MTR's Railway Expansion in Hongkong

MTR is Mass Transit Railway, it is the underground railroad known as subway of Hong Kong city. It is one of the best rapid transit railway sysytem in hong kong. MTR is one of the predictable, adequate, safe and economical systems in the world. Its wideranging network carries over 3 million wayfarer per day, connecting Hong Kong Island to the New Territories. The travellers of the Hong Kong city, Metro will be able to comfortably access the Services, thus declining the load on the routes.

In Hong Kong, the south Island line (east) is having a medium capacity MTR covering approximately 7 kilometres long tunnel from Admiralty station to South Horizons in Ap Lei Chau, with three intermediate stations at Ocean Park, Wong Chuk Hang and Lie Tung.  The tunnel is constructed with facade engineering to give not only a attractive look but with new approaches to offer an optimistic counterpoint to tight construction budget and climate change.

The endeavor associates with the construction of two elevated stations at Ocean Park and Wong Chuk Hang. The viaduct of 2 kilometres that forms the above ground section of the railway and a long bridge of 246 metre over the Aberdeen Channel.

There is a new station built at Ocean Park that hook up to the entry plaza of the marine theme park along an elevated walkway although the one at Wong Chuk Hang is built with a public transport interchange beneath. The viaduct has three sections, with the first crossing several busy roads coming out of the Aberdeen Tunnel. The other two sectors are constructed in or around a nullah or flood drainage channel.

Approach to several prominent locations, such as South Island Line(East), will be improved by the metro rail. In addition, the project will help in the development of infrastructure that is vital for further growth of the public transport system of Hong Kong.
